Water Colors at Ponte Vedra, Atlantic Coast

For Sigourney

A distant silent rain over the ocean
is a gray wash on a pale blue canvas
lingering for a stretch.

Closer in the beach is framed
in sweet green, dotted with monet-red flowers
moving towards the foreground.

On this porch we take in the evening,
as a haze of greys and muted tones
begs our hearts to beat slower.

Memories hang on the interior walls
in soft landscaped pastels
painted in the spring of life.

These water colors remind me that
life can be quieter than I remember,
and truth can come in the gentle whispers
of palettes washed in tenderness.
